Naltrexone
Naltrexone injections are most commonly administered in clinics or hospitals, although other settings such as opioid treatment programs and jails or prisons can also administer naltrexone.
Evidence-based Scale
Because naltrexone requires an individual to undergo a period of medically supervised withdrawal or have been abstinent from opioids, it is frequently given in settings where someone has been observed for a longer period of time and there are healthcare professionals trained to administer injections, such as in hospitals or clinics. Other settings that monitor patients for a long time, like opioid treatment programs, jails, or prisons, are also suitable to administer naltrexone.
