Intervention

Barriers and facilitators (sometimes called "contextual determinants") are factors that make it harder or easier to implement chiropractic care. These factors span multiple levels. Click the buttons on the left to read more about common barriers and facilitators for chiropractic care. In addition, view the RASC guides on Contextual Determinants Affecting Implementation and the Inventory of Factors Affecting Successful Implementation and Sustainment (IFASIS) to learn practical ways to assess these constructs.

Despite some perceptions that it is ineffective, chiropractic care is supported by a body of literature demonstrating effectiveness, especially when used in tandem with other interventions as part of a larger pain management strategy.

Barriers

Some people may avoid chiropractic care due to skepticism or unawareness about its effectiveness compared to other treatments.

Facilitators

Chiropractic care offers a range of treatment options and approaches that can be provided for patients, enabling a tailored treatment plan based on high-quality evidence.
