Research Questions

There are many opportunities for additional study to optimize the implementation of chiropractic care.

Future research questions regarding chiropractic care implementation may include:

  1. Improving the adoption of chiropractic care within established healthcare settings, such as primary care clinics and hospitals, and evaluating which implementation strategies are most effective at supporting appropriate referral and integration of chiropractic services.
  2. Extending chiropractic care integration to new healthcare contexts, such as occupational health programs, sports medicine facilities, and community health centers, and evaluating which implementation strategies are most effective at supporting providers in incorporating chiropractic care within these settings.
  3. Exploring various approaches to chiropractic care delivery, including collaborative care models with other healthcare providers, clinical decision support systems for referral guidance, and patient and clinician education programs to enhance understanding and utilization.
  4. Identifying barriers and facilitators to chiropractic integration across diverse healthcare settings and patient populations, and evaluating the comparative effectiveness of different implementation approaches on patient outcomes, healthcare utilization, and cost-effectiveness.
  5. Investigating hybrid implementation-effectiveness study designs that can simultaneously assess both the clinical effectiveness of chiropractic interventions and the scalability of implementation strategies to maximize impact on patient care and health system outcomes.
