Setting
Staff turnover can be a challenge, but leadership can facilitate the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Opioid Use Disorder (CBT-OUD)
Barriers
Many addiction specialty treatment programs hire staff at the bachelor’s or master’s level, while most of the data for CBT-OUD comes from research counselors with master’s or doctoral degrees. In addition, the high rates of staff turnover in addiction specialty treatment programs make it challenging to deliver CBT-OUD without disruption.
Facilitators
Support from an organization leader or executive champion can reduce administrative hurdles by expediting approval processes, allocating additional resources, and prioritizing the effort among the organization’s multiple other competing priorities.
